Profile

I was born in 1969, grew up in Brighton on England’s south coast, and graduated from the University of Leicester’s Faculty of Law. In 1991 I set out for Asia.

I started out writing travel articles for newspapers, back in 1996, but soon moved on to covering environmental, cultural, food and business topics for a variety of publications. Between 1999 and 2001 I was a full-time copy-editor in Taipei, Taiwan.

I’m the author or co-author of four books, and the principal English-language editor for a local government and a major museum here in Taiwan. I occasionally consult on matters relating to media, tourism and bilingual living environments.

I’m based in the fascinating historic city of Tainan, Taiwan.
